An angry mob in Mitiyana attacked suspected cattle thieves on Sunday and killed one. The incident happened in Kitongo village in Mityana district.
The angry mob arrested, beat to death and burnt the body of a man only identified as Henry, a boda boda rider. The deceased was a resident of Nakasumbi in Butayonja sub-county, Mityana district.
The same mob attacked the home of another man identified as Patrick Wamala in Maanyi village and destroyed his vehicle and tried to demolish his house.
According to police, the two were suspected by residents for being involved in cattle thefts that have rocked the area in recent weeks.
Nobert Ochom, the wamala region police spokesperson said “Police reached on time and rescued Patrick before he got killed by the mob. The two are suspected to be cattle thieves who have been disturbing the residents of these areas”.
Patrick who was rescued by police is currently being detained at Mitiyana police station. The body of the deceased was taken to Mityana hospital mortuary pending postmortem
